Members of the North Carolina Association of Private Investigators

Principal Members
Private investigators in North Carolina are licensed and regulated by the Department of Justice and the Private Protective Services under provisions of Chapter 74-C. The NCAPI strives to promote and safeguard the highest professional ethics of the investigative profession. Only PRINCIPAL MEMBERS of the NCAPI may vote and/or hold office in this association.
Affiliate Members
AFFILIATE MEMBERS shall be individuals licensed by a state or territory of the United States of America, other than the state of North Carolina, to perform the duties of a Private Investigator, Private Investigator Associate, (or the like), or Private Detective. AFFILIATE MEMBERS shall not vote or hold office in the association.
Student Members
STUDENT MEMBERS shall be any individual who is currently enrolled in a college level criminal justice or Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) program. STUDENT MEMBERS shall not vote or hold office in the association.
Staff Investigator Members
STAFF INVESTIGATOR MEMBERS shall be any individual who currently serves as a legal, non-licensed investigator for attorney firms or a corporate entity (i.e. Bank of America, Home Depot, etc.). STAFF INVESTIGATOR MEMBERS shall not vote or hold office in the association.
Business Associate Members
BUSINESS ASSOCIATE MEMBERS shall be any corporate sponsors and/or businesses that support professional investigators, as well as, the goals and ethics of the association. BUSINESS ASSOCIATE MEMBERS shall not vote or hold office in the association.
